FRCAPI Why can't I connect to the staging website?

This may not be a problem with the API but a problem on my end but everytime I try to connect to the server I get an 
error. 

Using Python's Request module I get this error: 
requests.exceptions.ConnectionError: ('Connection aborted.', gaierror(-2, 'Na
or service not known'))

Pinging on my Ubuntu VM I get an unknown host error.

Using the Google's DNS servers I get this:
vagrant@precise32:/frcdatapy/frcdatapy$ nslookup https://frc.staging.api.usf
irst.org 8.8.8.8
Server:         8.8.8.8
Address:        8.8.8.8#53

Pinging on my host Windows 8 machine I get this:
Pinging frc.staging.api.usfirst.org [138.91.112.33] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 138.91.112.33:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

But using Chrome I can visit the domain (with an SSL certificate mismatch error). 

This may not be the right place to ask but could anyone help?

What is the actual URL that you are trying to use?

The following is working for me...

https://frc.staging.api.usfirst.org/api/v1.0/teams/2015?page=1

Even with your link I have the problem of applications not being able to access it (Python, ping tool) but Chrome could 
open it. I pinged that address on my phone this time (both 4G and WiFi) and got a DNS error(unknown host)  both times.
